Eco talks during Easter Festival
Touch tanks, interesting displays and serious talks will form the core of the eco theme of the Easter Festival to be hosted by Port St Francis between Friday April 6 and Monday April 9.
The Kromme Trust, Sustainable Seas Trust, Sea Pledge, BayWorld as well as the Marine Protection Unit will all take part in the exhibition in one of the shops on Squid Square.
The Sustainable Seas Trust will do the first presentation on Friday morning at 10:00, and a talk on the St Francis beach erosion programme and the PEM system will follow at 12:00.
On Saturday morning at 10:00 Gypsea Marine Tours will host an “Explore the Rocky Shore” walk followed by a presentation by Dr Tony Ribbink on the Sea Pledge. In the afternoon a talk on the effect of global warming will follow, as well as a talk and presentation on local snakes by Dave Walker.
Trudi Malan from PEC will also do a presentation on the African Penguin and the work done at the rehabilitation centre in Cape St Francis.
On Friday, Saturday and Monday families can take part in a fun catch-and-release fishing competition between 12:00 and 14:00 every day. The Heritage Kids Art Workshops will run every day between 10:00 and 12:00 as well as between 14:00 and 16:00, also following the environment as the main theme for their fun projects.
The full programme will be available on the Port St Francis web as from early next week.
