Edible garden workshop next weekend

Time again for another Kouga Urban Harvest workshop to get you ready for all of your summer crops!  The Introduction to Food Gardening workshop will take place over the weekend 9 – 10 June in Jeffreys Bay.

“This two day workshop will prepare you to start and maintain your own food garden. You will leave with a new or stronger foundation on every aspect of food gardening from building soil to harvesting seed,” Jakkie Botha from Kouga Urban Harvest said.

The topics that will be covered include choosing your site and designing your beds,
preparing the beds/ container gardening, how to plant: crop rotation and companion planting, mulching and recycling, watering, harvesting, soil building, compost and earthworms, pest control, and seed collecting.

The workshop will start at 09:00 and finish at 15:00 every day at 15 Spekboom Street, Jeffreys Bay.  The cost is R600 per person.  Please bring a hat, sunblock, water bottle, comfortable clothing and pen.

The classes will be offered in Afrikaans and English and Vegetarian lunches will be provided.
