Ukupha needs volunteers for Hospice project

Ukupha, a local group of young mothers who run various charity projects, needs help with their current initiative, the Hospice ladies partnership.  A small contribution can make a big difference.

“Ukupha have undertaken to help Hospice with the young ladies they support by trying to collect a hygiene parcel each month,” says organiser Louise Niven. ” At the moment there are 23 girls, and we are looking for people in St Francis who can commit to purchasing a small set of goodies each month for a particular young lady in the Kouga area.”

The parcels can be dropped at Glo Beauty Studio by the 1st of each month. For those who do not have the time to buy the good themselves Ukupha accepts cash donations and can buy the goods for the ladies.

The items are not very pricey but would make a huge difference to young ladies between age 15 and 25 who otherwise would not have access to such goods.

The items in the monthly pack would be:  1 deodorant, 1 soap, 1 sanitary pads/tampons, 1 toothpaste, 1 body cream.

“We have run the project for two months already and the feedback from Hospice and these ladies have been very positive, they are thrilled to receive these goods and are touched by the gesture.”
